We’ve been reading the book A Growing Story a lot around here lately.  I got it for Sweetpea but it’s actually Buddy who just loves the book.  We’ve read it every night for bedtime for weeks.  It’s about a boy who, as the seasons change, observes everything around him grow: the flowers, the corn, the puppy, the chicks, the fruit trees and repeatedly asks his mother “are you sure I’m growing too?”   As spring turns to summer they put his warm clothes away.  The doubtful boy enjoys the summer while the reader can get lost in the gorgeous watercolor illustrations.  As the weather turns cold again, the boy and his mother get out his warm clothes.  And lo and behold, they’re too small!

The other day Buddy said: “Mommy?  I don’t want to be adopt.  I want to keep growing…”  I wish I knew the underlying thought for that comment.
